Taylor
Swift Digipac
The title of the album is “Red”
and so the colour is boldly featured on the cover. The “Taylor Swift” has been
adjusted and changed from her previous albums. The bold capitalisation is more
of a statement and suggests that she is a new Taylor, this works well and is
published well to show her target audience that she has changed her style and
appearance as an artist. The colour red is only used for the title, therefore
makes it significant to the title and instantly draws the attention of the
audience. The rest of colour pallet is very simple again in keeping with the
image chosen for the front cover. It could also convey that the artist is
showing a more natural, heartfelt image of herself to her fans to engross with
a different style of music. The shadowed tone of lighting covering
the top half of “Taylor Swifts” implies a sense of mystery and hidden side to
the artist, however the dark lighted tone to the image , extenuates the bright
shade of red, emphasising her beauty and seductive side as a women. The album
is using direct address to the target audience, however the body language of
the artist still manages to appeal her audience in a less dominant way. The
image used is very humble and modest, rather than her usual style of her
previous albums which are much more glamourous. Taylor swift is one of many
artists who chose to be the focus of her own music albums , is may be due to
the fact her agency wanting to promote her as a singer , as well as being an
icon in the music industry , therefore she wants her target audience to easily
purchase and spot products of hers. The cover of her album
communicates the genre as this is a new concept for her album covers as it
shows her maturity and a new direction for her identity and music. It is sleek
and mature which will be reflected in the music
A different image is used on the back cover of the album which is slightly more direct than the front cover, so consequently it’s engaging and appealing to its target audience in a more forceful way. The text is block, clear and simple however it works because it’s put on a slightly harsh background of darker colours than the font, therefore the text is brought out and enhance to the audience, although still keeping a professional outlook of the digipac. The digipac has all the main conventions which are seen on albums such as bar code and copyright text and logo, which are all placed in a way that you are still eligible to read it however not standing out and taking the main focus away from the artist herself.
