Digipac Anaylsis 2

Selena Gomez Digipac

The colour pallet used on the front cover on the album of the pastel shades and tones of pink, white and cream, is used effectively to attract her chosen target audience, of the female sex between the ages of 10-18. It also emphasis and compliments her feminine aspects of being gentle, graceful however enhancing her beauty and gracefulness. The image of the artist placed on the front cover, is using direct address to the audience through her body language and her eyes, which place a personal attachment between the audience and the artist herself. The font of the title “Selena Gomez & the Scene- a Year without Rain Deluxe Edition” is simplistic with a sense of emotion and meaning behind the title, from this it is appeling to the eye with the edgy cut font ,perhaps reflects the songs on her album. The printed font of “Deluxe edition” is a very useful marketing convention on a digipac , in order to entice the audience, especially a well devoted fan to purchase the album as it suggests there are extra features placed within the album other than her music. On the back cover of Selena Gomez’s digipac it is an enlarged image of Selena from her exclusive music video, again this is giving the audience a personal insight of her music without them purchasing the album, this is a very professional marketing technique to lure her audience member’s into purchasing the album. There is also continuity within the digipac between the photos used in the album, although they are taken within different locations and costumes, the style of the image and the editing aspect of the lighting and effects are simple to very much the same, allowing Selena’s album to flow and link. The audience are also shown what is included in this deluxe edition, such as dvd of behind the scene, music videos as well as stated the bonus tracks in bold italic font to engage the audience. The back cover also shows the audience the record label the artists is signed to , this is necessary to an album as it gives publicity to the record company, it also allows the audience to recognise the style of genre music the artist is assigned to.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The spine of the digipac, is imprinted with the product code of the album which allows the outlets to stock each album easily. The name of the artist is shown on the spine filling up the majority of the space in capital letters, again to appeal to the target audience and other members of the public.

The inside planes of the album has 3 compartments the 1st is where the cd’s/dvd’s are stored they are both in different colours which allows the audience to distinguish them from one another. This particular album has a plane dedicated to a special thank you as well as having the lyrics printed inside the album, this allows the consumer to really look into the lyrics of particular songs. These strategies are optional not all artists decide to do this layout within their album.
