Actors starring in my music video

My Actors

This is the actor who will be the main star and focus in my music video. Her name is Phoebe Cooper, aged 16.  Phoebe is a very confident and self-assured person. When in the process of planning my music video, the actor I chose to star in my music I had to take into consideration her personality and characteristics. As an artist she needs to feel comfortable about her appearance and body image when filming, as she needs to be portraying a confident and glamorous natural performance. Phoebe does dance as an outside hobby and wishes to peruse it as a career. Therefore she is used to performing front of 100’s of people and competition and dance performances. Due to this I feel like Phoebe will be the appropriate actor for my music magazine, as she will be relaxed in the filming shoots.
The Locations I am filming are slightly out of the area from where Phoebe lives therefore she will be getting dropped to mine and then travel by bus the rest of the journey, as it reduces the time of the journey , as I live slightly closer to the locations than Phoebe herself. Phoebe is often usually free over the weekend and week days, so if I need some extra filming shots/scenes needed, she would be easily contactable.

Audience feedback

Audience feedback about my chosen song

I have gathered audience feedback about their opinion on my chosen song for my music video. I have social networking sites such a Facebook and Instagram, websites that I am able to send them the link through. I felt this would be the best possible way to receive a response, as my chosen target audience are influenced immensely through media sites so there are able to see what others think within their age range about my chosen song. It also allows me to get a quick response rate as they spent the majority of them day checking for the latest status update.

After receiving my results through either Facebook or Instagram, a lot of my respondents stated they would expect a scene where my artist is pictured glamorous with a sparkly necklace, holding a diamond. They felt this particular scene would help relate to the chorus of the song, relating and engaging the audience with a slight narrative and performance based music video. I personally agree with this feedback I received having my artist dressed in dull clothing would contradict the lyrics and meaning on the song therefore I would risk losing my engagement with my target audience. Also having my artist pictured with props will add to the atmosphere and angle of the shot within my music video which makes it more enjoyable to watch for an audience point of view. As well as asking my respondents about the mise en scene of my music video of the clothing aspect, I also wanted their view on where they felt one of the locations should be. One respondent had an interesting idea, which I was particularly fond of, was a bath scene. She stated after watching many pop music video, that has the tempo and similar meaning as the song ‘Royal’ she said many had their artists filmed in a bath, which she personally found effective.. My audience member also stated they would like to see many close-ups on the artists in order to see her facial features clearly.

Audience Profile

Artist portfolio

The age range I am aiming to target is 13-25 year olds, which will primarily be females because the way I am structuring my music video and the tempo of the song will mainly attract and engage females rather than the opposite sex. This is because she will act as a role model, due to the way she will be featured in the music video desirable and trendy as well as an act of inspiration to the younger generation of my target audience. The music video I am creating and designing wouldn’t necessary appeal to older audience members, just because the simple fact they won’t be able to relate to the song and the meaning behind the video, as well as the fact they have a more mature lifestyle, so generally won’t have time to watch and listen to music video, because they are worrying about their lifestyle and struggles of social, financial and economic factors..

I feel my target audience would attract an ethnic group British white, due to the fact my music video isn’t ethnic diversity, as my actors within my music video are white, therefore it will be unlikely that my music video will appeal to various ethnic groups, due to this factor my music video won’t be appealing to a wider, more diverse audience.

The age range I am targeting my music video towards are highly influenced in upcoming technology, and use a variety of  social media sites such as facebook, instagram, whatsapp and twitter. So because of this I will be marketing and distributing my music video advertisement of digipac and poster as well as my music video through these online sites. This is the most effective way to get a high response rate in engaging my audience to purchase and watch my music video.

My chosen Music video

History of the song

Royals" is a song recorded by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde for her extended play debut, The Love Club EP. It was released as her first single on 2nd August 2013 (2013-08-02). To promote the song, Lorde performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the 2013 New Zealand Music Awards. By the end of 2013, the track was listed as one of the year's best songs by media outlets including Rolling Stone, Time and Spin. The song won Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.

What the song is about

Royals is about how today's music is all about what is considered the "good life," filled with riches and fame, but not everyone can live that life, and so the average person is desperately reaching out for that kind of life, but perhaps this life isn't always how it seems.

"Royals"[Verse 1]
I've never seen a diamond in the flesh
I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies
And I'm not proud of my address,
In a torn-up town, no postcode envy

But every song's like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin' in the bathroom
Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room,
We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams.
But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your timepiece.
Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash.
We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair.

And we'll never be royals (royals).
It don't run in our blood,
That kind of luxe just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz.
Let me be your ruler (ruler),
You can call me queen Bee
And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.
Let me live that fantasy.

[Verse 2]
My friends and I—we've cracked the code.
We count our dollars on the train to the party.
And everyone who knows us knows that we're fine with this,
We didn't come from money.

But every song's like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin' in the bathroom.
Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room,
We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams.
But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your timepiece.
Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash
We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair

And we'll never be royals (royals).
It don't run in our blood
That kind of luxe just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz.
Let me be your ruler (ruler),
You can call me queen Bee
And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.
Let me live that fantasy.

Ooh ooh oh
We're bigger than we ever dreamed,
And I'm in love with being queen.
Ooh ooh oh
Life is great without a care
We aren't caught up in your love affair.

And we'll never be royals (royals).
It don't run in our blood
That kind of luxe just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz
Let me be your ruler (ruler),
You can call me queen Bee
And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.
Let me live that fantasy.

Filming Schedule

Filming Schedule

I have designed a filming schedule to help me along the process of producing and creating my music video. Having scripted a filming schedule to assign myself to will be very beneficial during my filming stage as it will be quite time consuming as it will reduce the chance of any lost time, which could put me behind schedule in the editing stage of my music video. I also needed to give myself extra time in chance the filming shoot didn’t run according to plan. For instance some shots may not looks as effective as I initially thought they would, therefore I would need to assign myself extra time for any of this complications. But hopefully the schedule will track my progress as well as maintaining the filming shoot runs smoothly, in an organised mode.

Equipment

Equipment

Throughout the process of producing my music video I will be using a ‘Canon E0S 450D SLR’ camera. This is a highly professional piece of equipment will enable me to produce a clear, high pixel quality of angles and shots for my music video. I felt by using this it will contribute to making my music video successful and at the best possible standard. As using an iPhone camera or just a less professional camera with a lower pixel and MB it could affect the outcome of my music video as the shots and angles within it will be unclear with a slight blurry tint to it, as known from personal experience. With the Canon camera it has adjustable lens with will heighten and enhance the shots and angle quality, as it will emphasise my models facial features in more detail. Therefore when it comes to editing my music video I will have a variety of shots I could use as they are all precious and clear.

I will also being using my tripod when filming scenes of my music video to assure that the shot clips are steady and firm, as the risk with filming my hand can lead to the shots and scenes being blurry and unsteady footage , with the end result of your music video looking unprofessional.

Camera Movement,Angle and Shots

When producing a music video there is a variety of different camera movement, shots and angles that need to be incorporated within my process of filming. Using these different camera techniques will give me the opportunity to produce a professional music video that will target my audience in the best possible way

Camera shots are the amount of space which is seen within the frame. The purpose of the shots are to demonstrate different aspects of a film such as characters, setting and themes through varies different ways. Shots themselves are linked together to form scenes by a range of cuts or transitional devices.

Close up shot- This particular shot is used to show an object in much greater detail, that it often blurs out the background within the image. It can also make the audience feel a lot more involved in a character or particular scene.
Long Shot- This shot shows the audience the specific setting of a scene, it could also be used to get a full shot of an object or subject.
Meduim shot- This Particlaur shot is usually from the subjects head with the shot ending at the torso of the body. Although it allows the auidnece to gain clear quality of an object/subject as well as other surrounding parts in the shot.
Two shot- This shot is often used when there are more than one object/subjected being featured in a scene. This particular shot allows the audience to understanding the relationship and situation between two people.

Point of View- This shot allows the audience to gain the perspective of the subject at that given time. At the bottom of the frame you can sometimes see the person’s lower body half in the frame. This allows the audience to gain a contention with the person emotions and their motives.

Camera movement is used for a creative and artistic effect too add meaning to a scene/film

Crab shot- This movement allows the camera to follow the scene and positioning/movement of a particular character in order for the audience to keep up with the plot and setting of the particular scene.
Zoom – This is the movement of the lens of a camera which allows them to adjust the focal lens length, which causing the shot to be enhance by the distance either closer or further from the object/subject.

Pan- A pan shot is a horizontal movement from left to right in order to gain a more extensive view of a set or location and makes spatial relationships clear to the audience.

Camera angles marks a specific location at where the camera is placed to take a shot. Depending on where the camera is postponed it will give off a different experience and emotion to the audience.

High Angle- This angle provides a view from above the subject, it makes the person or object seem insignifant. Implying to the audience a sense of superiority to the subject being photographed.
Low Angle- This angle provides a view looking up at the subject, this angle conveys connotations of power and control, which is often used to make an action scene seem more dramatic and intense.
Canted Angle- Is an angle tilted 25-45 degrees, causing the frame to be unlevelled, as well as showing to object or subject at an unnatural point of view. The angle create a sense of instability therefore it is often associated with frantic rhythms of actions films and music videos.
Eye Level- This angle shows the object/subject to be angled directly at you on a balanced level, giving the observer a personal attachment to the object.

Aerial Shot- This angle provides a view from directly overhead to contain a clear view. The angle of framing can be used to indicate the relation between a character and the camera’s point of view.
